ERROR CORRECTION
In the October Talk of the Colony magazine that will be arriving this week, the General Manager’s article concerning the reconstruction of Dam #2 incorrectly states the work will begin Fall 2026. The construction is actually planned to start Fall 2027 to be completed in the Spring 2028. More information will be provided in advance of construction.
New - PAVING THE WAY TO SMOOTHER STREETS
Paving begins this week and is scheduled to continue into the week of October 12. Paving will include all of Ford’s Colony Drive, St. Andrew’s from the Marriott to Manchester, and Royal Worlington. Emails and text alerts will be sent throughout the paving process to keep everyone aware of what areas are being paved. You may want to reconsider your usual routes in an attempt to avoid delays in your travels.

Saturday, Oct 10 | 10 to 11 a.m. | Chisel Run Pond
During this one-hour tour you’ll learn about the trees and woody shrubs, their ecological significance, and how they were used in colonial times. Park at Westbury Hills parking lot or on Westbury Hills and meet at the Chisel Run Pond dam, where the tour will begin. We’ll be walking on level ground. The tour will conclude with an overview of the Native Habitat Garden. Limited to 20 residents. Register by email to Dave Kleppinger at

Friends & Neighbors (FAN) is pleased to welcome Richard Henry Lee, as interpreted by returning reenactor Richard Cheatham, to Ford’s Colony. Lee, one of Virginia’s delegates to the Continental Congress in 1776, introduced the resolution for independence that year, yet he is one of the most overlooked of our founding fathers. Learn about his life, accomplishments, and the pivotal role he played in the formation of the United States.
