On the first Monday of each month, WINGS: Ford’s Colony Bird Club meets at the S&T Club with informal discussions starting at 6:30 p.m. and a business meeting and presentation at 7 p.m. At WINGS’ April 6 meeting, Shirley Devan of the Williamsburg Bird Club will speak about the Prothonotary Warblers that will be returning to the area by mid-April.

Tuesday Bird Walks

WINGS: Ford's Colony Bird Club holds free bird walks every Tuesday on the Ford's Colony nature trail. Starting April 7, walks leave at 7:30 a.m. from the Westbury Park parking lot. On the second Tuesday, walks leave at 1 p.m. Wear good walking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them. All are welcome.

Tom White will present a talk on "Climate Change: Psychological Barriers to Action and How to Overcome Them." This presentation will share some fresh ideas that inspire hope and point towards positive and effective solutions. Tom has been a resident of Ford's Colony since 2017 when he retired from UVA. He has a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Stonybrook University and has been teaching classes on the psychology of climate change for Osher Institute at William and Mary. Participants should bring their phones to join in an activity that will capture and display the way the group feels about climate change. All FC residents are welcome to attend.
 
Philadelphia Tour - Travel Club
Friday, April 17th to Sunday, April 19th

Newcomers Night Out

One of our purposes at Newcomers, is to help newer residents learn more about living in Ford’s Colony and environs. Most new residents will not have heard of the JCC Board of Supervisors but their decisions substantially affect our quality of life. How? All will be revealed on our April 17 Night Out, when we will be able to meet, hear and question our two Supervisors – Jim Icenhour and Michael Hipple.

The Earth Day event scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Westbury Park and Pavilion has been canceled. However you can still celebrate Earth Day! Take a photo on the Nature Trail between April 19-25 and post it on the Ford’s Colony website by going to fchoa.org—residents—scroll down to Photo Albums/Activities Colony Wide/EarthDay2020. The Nature Trail was renewed over the winter, with new boardwalks and signage by our FCHOA maintenance crew. Ford's Colony is blessed with abundant natural beauty, so take some time to enjoy the outdoors this month.
