“A New Way to Look at Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area” — We’ve all seen the results of the wonderful preservation work done on the buildings in Colonial Williamsburg, especially the Charlton Coffee House, but have you ever thought about just what goes into preserving and restoring these buildings? A look behind the scenes of these restorations is fascinating: The architectural work in discovering how the buildings were constructed, the archeological investigation into what is original and what is more recent, the search for materials and the special techniques required to faithfully restore the buildings. All of these secrets and more will be revealed and discussed by our speaker, Matthew Webster, who is the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Director, Grainger Department of Architectural Preservation.

In 2017 Ken concentrated on capturing some unique images and two special species on his “Bucket List." Ken complements his photos with stories, animal facts, audio and short videos. The program provides a view of a wildlife photographer’s world and the challenges taken to capture stunning wildlife images. We'd also like to announce that Trailblazers will begin offering weekend outings this spring. Some members cannot make the Thursday outings because of work or other conflicts so this will provide an opportunity for them to get outside with other club members. Claudia Kirk is coordinating this effort. Contact her at ckirk77@gmail.com if you are interested. A schedule of weekend walks will be released soon and all Trailblazers are invited. You don’t have to belong to Trailblazers to come to our meetings, so please accept our invitation and join us for this memorable and exciting evening.
